"From the very first meet and greet with Neil, I felt a sense of comfort. Having been severely obese my entire life, I was very afraid that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with what a personal trainer would throw my way. I was terrified that I would quit right away. But, Neil has made sure that’s not the case. Neil provides me with the encouragement I need when he sees that I still have something to give but am nearing exhaustion. He is incredibly observant and understands when he’s taken me to my absolute limit and will adjust the exercise/intensity accordingly. Being obese, I deal with plenty of aches and pains while working out. Neil is incredible about being able to make adjustments at the drop of a hat based on the pain I identify. His education in therapeutic exercise has been a big help with both choosing exercises that I can do, but making sure they are challenging enough. He has also helped me with changing my mental approach to my aches and pains allowing me to work on my compensations in a safe and controlled manner. He also provides guidance and homework for the days when I’m not training with him.
When I began with Neil, I identified that my fitness goal was simply establishing a base fitness level so that I was not winded taking the stairs, etc. In just a few short months I feel like I’ve come leaps and bounds from where I began thanks to Neil. I can now take the stairs like it’s nothing, do 30 minutes a day of cardio and am lifting 30LBS in each hand in an inclined chest press.
